Youth Group

The Power youth group philosophy of ministry comes from the great commission given to the church by Christ. "Go and make disciples". The Gospel is presented to all students in a fashion that is comfortable for the adolescent. Our goal is to develop mature believers in Jesus Christ.

The name Power was chosen by the youth group students and comes from Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

We call it the Power youth group because of the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to change lives for the better.

God has a plan for each person and through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that plan can be found.

The purpose of the Power Youth group is to assist young people in their pursuit of God and the plan that He has for them.

Youth group meets year round and we have a variety of activities.

Winter Retreat

Once a year we travel to the mountains for a 3 day event designed for evangelism and spiritual growth. The students spiritual awareness is heightened through Daily devotions and chapel meetings.
Typical winter retreat includes powerful teaching, thought provoking drama, focused worship, wild games and fun as well as all of the expected winter activities.

Harvest Carnival

Each Halloween the students construct and operate a carnival for the community. The entire community is invited to come and play carnival games, win prizes, and help devour gallons and gallons of chili and soup. This has become a great time for families and gives parents an alternative to the regular Halloween activities.

Turkey Bowl

The Sunday after thanksgiving students meet at the high school football field and play a spirited game of football, using a frozen turkey as the ball! It is great fun. After the game the students return to the church, fill boxes of non perishable foods and deliver them to needy families in the area.

Silent Auction

This is the primary fund raiser for the youth group. The auction is usually the first full week of November. Donations from the community and from the students are auctioned. Services, food, furniture, toys, clothing, fuel, and tools are just some of the items that have been donated in the past.

Discipleship

Designed to encourage students who sincerely seek to mature in their spiritual lives discipleship classes teach doctrine, how to have and grow a spiritual lifestyle, how to include God in every area of life, how to share their faith with others, and how to be leaders.

Outreach programs

There are several activities that are used to strengthen relationships and attract new students to youth group. Trips to Elitches, the End of School Summer Bash, Adventure night to start the school year, ANT(All Night Thang), and many other trips and activities throughout the year.

Servant Life

Through out the year the youth group is involved in projects to serve our community. Picking up trash along the highway, helping people move, visiting the nursing home are a few of the projects we have done.
